I was born in Israel, my father was born in Morocco. He came to the country when he was a child and i was born in the small settlement that was the transit camp where he and his family moved to live.
When I was a child I asked my dad to teach me how to speak moroccan so I can understand my grandparents but he refused, he wanted me and my siblings to learn english - my mom's native language. This kind approach of my dad’s comes from a distinct Israeli mentality, especially 50 years ago, when my dad was a child.
