The veil, in much of the Islamic world, takes on a predominantly political connotation that has more to do with the imposition of an ideology rather than with religious belief.
Contrary to popular belief, in fact, in the Koran the obligation to wear a veil is not explicitly written but rather not to flaunt one's body and to observe modest behavior.Wearing the veil should therefo- re not be an obligation, but rather a matter of individual conscience and responsibility between God and the faithful.
