AW 23 – UMAMA WAMI translate to ‘ MY MOTHER’
This collection is based on my mother and the five pillars she represents (Nurturer, Healer, Giver, Fighter, and leader). She has been all these pillars simultaneously growing up, and this collection highlights the importance and appreciation for each of these personas in my life. The collection speaks directly to my mother but is a metaphor for South African mothers as it emphasizes the many hats women have to wear daily to keep their families together and still truly be themselves.
