BEAUTIFUL TRAUMA

BEAUTIFUL TRAUMA

‘BEAUTIFUL TRAUMA’ is inspired by the painting ‘The Two Fridas’ by Frida Kahlo, a portrait of love, duality and heartbreak, where the artist herself is re-imagined as distinctive identities, one as the woman that was once loved by her then ex-husband, Diego Rivera and on the right as the one who has been betrayed, rejected and unloved by the same man (Kahlo’s marriage with Rivera was known to be stormy and filled with infidelities). Loved and unloved Frida represent loneliness, denial, despair and brokenness but also self-love and resilience.
