Fly Lace

Fly Lace

The design is a lace pattern featuring flies, originally finely hand-drawn with pen and ink to exactly mimic the appearance of lace.
The idea behind the design is an idealistic attempt to cope with some of the complexities of modern life. The fly lace pattern represents a synthesis of two conflicting identities most of us are living with – being a product of nature on the one hand (in our original environment likely to be visited by flies), and being a sophisticated member of society on the other (clad in elaborate man-made fabrics, perfumed and deodorised...)
