For it's first collection, ABOUT A WORKER collaborated with Mode Estime, an insertion factory located in Saint-Denis (Parisian suburb), producing clothes for young designers and promotional items for bigger businesses.
ABOUT A WORKER specifically teamed up with Mode Estime best talents: Fadila Boubekeur, Aissatou Gakou, Kira Ghoul, and Misbahou Yisouf; all coming from atypical cultural and professional backgrounds, they rarely had the chance to reveal publicly.
To develop the first collection, each worker was asked to create his/her own outfit by deconstructing, reconstructing and embellishing a “Bleu de travail” the traditional symbol of the french factory worker.
Over a 6 months process, these workers followed a self-expression initiation inspired by the classical way of creating a clothing collection : from a moodboard to an end product. However, workers were required to get inspired by their own working reality and not by a fascination, as a designer would usually do.
